In January 12-13, 14 NCUC members will take part in the intersessional meeting of the Non-Contracted Parties House.
The Non Contracted Parties House is one of the two groupings (‘houses’) of the Generic Names Supporting Organizations (GNSO). The GNSO is the policymaking body of ICANN, and mainly fashions policies for generic Top-Level Domains (e.g., .com, .org…). It is composed of two ‘Houses’, the Contracted Parties House (namely, the registries and the registrars) and the Non-Contracted Parties House (NCPH). The NCPH includes the two NonCommercial Constituencies (NCUC and the Not-For-Profit Operational Concerns, aka NPOC), and the commercial constituencies, as illustrated in the figure below.
NCUC delegates include represent 11 countries, and all continents, as follows: Bill Drake (NCUC Chair), Rafik Dammak (NCSG chair), David Cake, Avri Doria (NSCG); Zuan Zhang, Joao Carlos Caribe, Grace Githaiga, Stefania Milan (NCUC EC), Ed Morris, Stephanie Perrin, Marilia Maciel, Matthew Shears, Kathy Kleiman (NCUC), and NCUC grantee Walid Al-Saqaf.
The two-day meeting will feature discussion about the functioning of the House, and about other substantive issues concerning ICANN workings.
